Curious Little Gargoyle

Finally!

After a long period of time I manage to submit something new that is not a bw sketch! Woohoo!

Hopefully I'll manage to get other pics colored in the meantime: seriously, my binder is near breaking into pieces from the mass amount of sketches I've produced...

Anyway, this pic started off as a sketch, I did two weeks ago during my stay at the hospital (why was I in a hospital? I'll tell you later).

This is kid (or should I say hatchling) version of Lexington. One of the characters from the Disney series called "Gargoyles". For those of you who are not familiar with the character: Lexington (or Lex for short) is the smallest, and probably physically weakest member of Manhattan clan, who's got a great liking and interest in all the mechanical devices.

According to what Greg Weisman, the creator of the show, said Lex's always seemed to have some kind of fascination in human technology and devices - while living in the Middle Ages on the Wyvern Hill he showed some interest in the catapults that Hakon and his men used while attacking the castle.

This pic is sort of a representation of what the beginnings of this fascination with technology might've looked like. And so we see little Lex stumbling upon and hourglass. For an average man it's just a simple time-measuring device, but for a Gargoyle hatchling, who's never seen such thing before in his life it's an object of awe.


While drawing Lex, I tried to stay faithfull to the Disney style as much as possible and I think that I managed it. I like how the pic turned out overall: I think it's one of my best works I've done so far, and deffinatelly one of those that I feel really proud off.
